From manual call-backs to 100% automated validation across 32,000 vendors

Société Générale is a global banking group with 126,000 employees, turnover of €28 billion, and operations across 65 countries. Its procurement and IT teams manage a vendor database of 32,000 vendors in France, running on an Oracle PeopleSoft technical environment.

Challenge

Before Trustpair, Société Générale had never audited its vendor database. The bank relied on SEPAmail DIAMOND for vendor bank account validation, which covered 40% of its database in France. The remaining 60% was controlled manually through human callbacks.

The vendor database was unreliable, and data authenticity was not guaranteed. The risk of errors and fraud was elevated. Manual account validation checks were fallible and inefficient, leaving the source-to-pay process unprotected against fraud.

Société Générale set two goals:

  • Audit and correct the vendor database to prevent vendor fraud.
  • Streamline fraud prevention processes directly within the existing Oracle tool.

Laurent Givair, P2P Technical Leader at Société Générale highlighted "Before using Trustpair in Oracle, we controlled 40% of our vendors through SEPAmail DIAMOND. The procurement team relied on phone calls to control the other vendors. This wasn't enough to prevent fraud and was very manual and time-consuming work."

Solution

After an initial audit and cleanup of the vendor database, Trustpair was integrated into Société Générale's Oracle interface through its API, and all 32,000 vendors were audited and cleaned. Specific information was added to Oracle to meet the needs of the teams using it. "What our users spotted right away is how easy the platform is to use. It doesn't require extensive training and is intuitive," explains Givair.

Thanks to Trustpair, we've audited, cleaned, and secured our vendor database. We're also much more confident in our fraud detection and prevention capabilities."

New vendors are automatically and systematically controlled in Oracle, avoiding fraud risk. Any change to vendor data during the payment chain is monitored and reported directly in Oracle, securing the  source-to-pay  process.

A healthy database

42% of vendor data was found to be erroneous. The vendor database is now reliable and kept up to date.

More efficiency

100% of account validation checks are automated. Procurement no longer needs to make phone calls.

"Trustpair adapted to our needs in Oracle. Thanks to the integration, we were able to add specific features and information, such as vendor status, to the Oracle interface. Trustpair answered our users' needs," Givair added.

A rollout shaped around Société Générale's needs

  • A clear API rollout and deployment completed in under two months.
  • A dedicated team, including a project manager, day-to-day support, and frequent review committees.
  • Extensive product personalization, with specific modules built into the Oracle interface.
  • Intuitive, easy-to-use features that supported quick adoption of the solution.

Conclusion

With Trustpair integrated directly into Oracle, Société Générale moved from a partially manual, unreliable vendor validation process to full automation across its 32,000 third parties. The bank now runs a healthier, continuously validated vendor database, with zero fraud events since integration and no more manual account checks required.
