Independent research firm’s take on supplier networks

Senior Vice President, Products & Services

I had chance to read The Forrester Wave™: eProcurement, Q2 2014 report published few weeks ago and I am delighted about Forrester Research, Inc. not only describing Basware as the largest independent eProcurement vendor, but as providing excellent support for global enterprises by being very strong in eInvoicing regulations, particularly for cross-border commerce.

Further exploring the report reveals that Forrester describes as Basware’s strengths “a large active supplier community — both directly on its Basware Network and via interoperability with over 170 other networks.” In the report Basware Network was described as “one of the largest networks in terms of transaction volume and value going through it” and Basware as “a pioneer of network interoperability so it enables customers to immediately connect with a large supplier base via a host of partner operators."

I’m very proud of Basware described as a pioneer especially when that comes from an independent research firm. I do consider Basware Network something to be proud of based on impressive facts like how it connects businesses in over 100 countries with annual spend on the network exceeding $500 billion. Those are exciting numbers describing what I consider as results of Basware’s multi-year investments to build a connected business world across the world that creates vast amounts of value in global enterprises as well as in their supply base. I think Basware has the right expertise and vision to shape the future of global business commerce networks taking advantage of complete new ways of boosting cross-border commerce and economies everywhere around the world.

What I consider something Forrester has improved in this latest eProcurement report is proper inclusion of supplier networks as P2P vendor evaluation criteria to provide more transparency into different network approaches. This is something where I think Basware is definitely leading the way with its “open approach” that leverages network interoperability to make the commerce flow with ease. That open business commerce network infrastructure is also something we at Basware have been working hard to build for years, and today its delivering unique value for both buyers and suppliers, with rapidly growing transaction volumes demonstrate the value that businesses are unleashing every day in doing business on the network.

While I know the Forrester report is a snapshot of the market in Q2 2014 we at Basware will continue to raise the bar with our network services and best-of-breed P2P solutions that are built on our 20 years of experience and global reach to serve companies from global enterprises to smallest supplier across the world – all connected for fluent cross-border commerce. I also know Basware customers will stay as forerunners also in the future with the world-class e-procurement and financial processes supported by number of exciting new services to manage more proactively cash and untap a totally new value streams from B2B networks.
