The e-Invoice Alliance Germany (VeR) has announced a new board of directors and it's great to see that our very own Julia Sonnhalter, Marketing Manager at Basware in Germany, has been given the role of vice chairwoman. Together with chairman Stefan Gross and vice chairman Marcus Laube, Julia will focus on promoting the electronic invoice exchange across Germany.
The common data format for electronic invoices (ZUGFeRD) will facilitate e-invoicing at a national level. The VeR’s goal is to have 40 per cent of B2B invoices in Germany being sent electronically by 2014.
Many CEOs and CFOs are already prioritising a move to paperless and thinking about reducing costs and increasing efficiency. Nevertheless, we need to do more to increase awareness of an electronic environment that enhances the accuracy of all documentation and Julia will be helping to educate and evangelise the benefits of e-invoicing.
Some countries have 35 per cent penetration of e-invoicing, others have not yet reached five per cent, so with Julia's appointment to the board of VeR we hope to see a significant increase in the adoption of electronic invoices as standard across Germany.
